Tejpal should not be given special treatment: BJP

The main opposition claimed this case should not be treated as one between Tejpal and BJP

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Insisting that the amended rape law is on test in the Tarun Tejpal case, BJP today said the former Tehelka editor should not be given any special treatment and law should take its own course.

"Tejpal should be treated as the perpetrator of the crime. The amended law is on test in this matter. After the statement of the victim to a magistrate, this is an open-and- shut case," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

The main opposition claimed this case should not be treated as one between Tejpal and BJP- as is being alleged by the former editor- or between Tehelaka and BJP.

"This is a case of grievous assault by Tejpal of the victim. Law should take its own course and at a faster pace," Javadekar said.
