Vice Prez Poll: Modi against Jaswant Singh

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to be divided on Jaswant Singh’s candidature in the vice-presidential poll. Many senior leaders, including Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, are not pleased with the decision of making Singh the party’s candidate, say sources.

Modi believes Singh held Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister, responsible, for the partition of India in his book, Jinnah – India, Partition, Independence.

“Modi was the loudest to demand Jaswant Singh’s expulsion from the party ,” said a senior leader of BJP.
