'BPOs must set up better security mechanism'

Press Trust Of India New Delhi
The Call Centre Association of India today asked BPO firms across the country to put in place a comprehensive security mechanism to avoid leakage of confidential data involving the companies and their clients.

"With more and more higher-end work being outsourced to India, data security issues have gained prime importance in the BPO segment. There is a great need to keep pace with the growing demands of overseas clients to ensure sound data security practices," CCAI said in a statement here.

Reacting to the arrest of a proprietor of a British company on the charge of leaking classified information of a Delhi-based call centre, the CCAI said it was a clear violation of legal contract signed between the call centre and the client.

"Though there have been stray instances of data pilferage, more and more work has been outsourced to India validating the fact that global clients repose their faith in the Indian companies," the statement added.
