Government agencies and private millers procured more than 10.822 million tonnes of wheat in Punjab till Monday evening, compared to 10.202 million tonnes of wheat procured last year.
Out of the total procurement of wheat (10.822 million tonnes), government agencies procured 10.788 million tonnes (99.7 per cent), whereas private traders procured 25,302 tonnes (0.2 per cent).
Food Corporation of India (FCI) was able to procure 1.625 million tonnes of wheat, 15 per cent of the total procurement of wheat in Punjab.
Ferozepur district led in procurement of wheat with 13.19 million tonnes, whereas Sangrur with 1.018 million tonnes was second and Ludhiana with 854,000 tonnes third.
