Alstom delivers first set of trains to Kochi Metro

The coaches, worth Rs 632.95 crore, have been manufactured at SriCity near Chennai

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd today received its first set of 25 trains for Kochi Metro from French company Alstom.

The coaches have been manufactured at SriCity, near Chennai, worth Rs 632.95 crore.

All the 25 coaches will be delivered by April 2017.

Union Minister for Urban Development, Parliamentary ‎Affairs, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation today flagged off the first train from SriCity.

Elias George, Managing Director, Kochi Metro Rail Ltd said the metro cars are delivered ahead of schedule in a time of 15 months.

Nearly 70% of the raw materials were sourced locally for the train sets" he said.
