Andhra revises duty on liquor

The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday revised the excise duty and the trade margin on certain categories of Indian made foreign liquor with immediate effect. Unofficial reports said the government would get an additional revenue of Rs 1,400 crore from this decision.

The excise duty now ranges from Rs 47 to Rs 100 per proof litre based on the basic price of different categories of liquor.

The trade margin to be charged by Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL), which is the wholesale trader of liquor in the state, will range between 28 per cent and 37 per cent on a pre sale point price that includes basic price, excise, countervailing duty and value-added tax .
