AP makes sewage treatment mandatory for building permission
All types of non-high rise and high rise with a built-up of 50,000 sqm and above shall be designed and constructed as green buildings

Andhra Pradesh has made onsite sewerage treatment plants mandatory for all types of non-high rise and high-rise buildings having 100 units and above for granting permissions under green building norms.
Those who cannot set up these plants are given the option of paying the investment cost for STP installation as part of infrastructure fee to the local body to treat water at the rate of Rs 200 per sqm of built-up area with 7.5 per cent increase a year. The treated water should be used for captive purposes, orders issued by the municipal administration department on Tuesday said.
All types of non-high rise and high rise with a built-up of 50,000 sqm and above shall be designed and constructed as green buildings. It has also made it mandatory 100 units and above building to have onsite renewable energy system to cater to at least 50 per cent of outdoor and common area lighting requirement or 2 per cent of the total connected load.
