Bengal opposes

West Bengal opposed the direct cash transfer to bank accounts of beneficiaries, claiming it would lead to breakdown of the public distribution system and closure of FCI. Minister for Food and Supplies Jyotipriya Mullick said the purpose of setting up FCI would be defeated as beneficiaries could use the cash for other purposes.
