Bsnl Hits Capacity Roadblock

Thomas K Thomas BUSINESS STANDARD

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has stopped offering new mobile connections. The public sector undertaking has been forced to temporarily stop its subscription drive after its networks reached full capacity. The company has over 1.7 million mobile customers at present.

The company had initially targeted 1.5 million cellular subscribers by March end. However, it has been adding nearly 300,000 new cell subscribers every month and is now adding capacity for 2.5 million more connections.
