Cabinet may discuss ordinance on October 3

The Cabinet is likely to meet on October 3 or 4 to take a call on a possible withdrawal of the controversial ordinance on convicted lawmakers, which Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had strongly denounced on Friday. Even as the party's crisis managers were in a damage-control mode, government sources on Saturday indicated a meeting of the Cabinet to deliberate on the ordinance was likely to take place when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned from the US.
