CII organises Quality Control Circle Competition

To provide an opportunity to motivate workers to exchange ideas, views and share experiences on quality circles and various methods to solve the problem, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organised a Quality Control (QC) Circle Competition in Lucknow last week. This is a part of the ongoing national QC Circle Competition 2006-07, organised by the CII.
 
The 'Udan' QC Circle from BHEL, Haridwar, won the Winners Rolling trophy at the preliminary competition, while 'Uday' QC Circle from Hero Honda Motors Ltd, Gurgaon, bagged the first runners-up Rolling trophy. The 'Shine' QC Circle from Maruti Udyog Ltd, Gurgaon, won the second runners-up Rolling trophy.
 
In the preliminary competition, held in Lucknow, 15 quality circles comprising workmen from 10 organisations made presentations on the innovative initiatives taken by them to enhance the quality while handling different projects at their respective work places.
 
The panel of judges included PK Datta, chairman and managing director, Scooters India Ltd, Lucknow; BN Saxena, management consultant and ex-head of quality circles and training, BHEL, Haridwar and Praveen Chandra, deputy general manager (quality), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Lucknow.
