The third edition of Coir Kerala, scheduled at Alappuzha from February 1 to 5, will witness a three-fold increase in business turnover and in the number of visitors, said Kerala revenue and coir development minister Adoor Prakash on Sunday. Addressing a press conference, he said the number of visitors confirmed so far had increased compared with the previous editions and the government is expecting a direct sale of over Rs 200 crore this time. Coir Kerala 2013, an expo of coir and natural products, is being organised by the Department of Coir Development, Kerala.
“We have focused on the emerging markets like Africa and Latin America this time. Delegates from 60 countries will take part in the fair,” he added. Compared with 28 delegates last year from Europe, this time 37 have already confirmed their participation. Likewise, there is an increase in the number of buyers from countries in the North America, Latin America and Asia.
