Press Trust Of India Mumbai
India has been ranked sixth among the top ten tourist destinations by Conde Nast Traveller, a United Kingdom magazine, in its annual readers' travel awards 2004.

India has grabbed the sixth position, up from the ninth spot last year.

The magazine ranked Rajvilas, Jaipur, as third in the overseas leisure hotels category for Asia.

Meanwhile, the Taj Exotica resort and spa, Maldives, has been been ranked number three in that category for Africa, Indian Ocean and the Middle-East, the magazine said in a release.

According to the magazine, the top five destinations in its survey are Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, Singapore and Italy.

Commenting on India's ranking by the magazine, Tourism Minister Renuka Choudhary made a statement.

The Indian tourism minister said that India was an incredible destination with myriad experiences and the world was rediscovering it.
