After coming to power in 2014, one of the major promises of the Narendra Modi government to farmers was to double their incomes by 2022-23. A sharp fall in farm-gate prices the past few years has prompted critics to raise several doubts about the promise. Chairman of the high-powered panel on Doubling Farmers Income (DFI).
