Cong Submits Explanation On Rs 3.75cr Forex Contribution

The Congress party submitted an explanation to the home ministry on the very last date of deadline set regarding Rs 3.75 crore foreign donation the party received during 1993-95 in alleged violation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (Fcra).

Replying to a public interest litigation in Delhi High Court which alleged inaction on the part of authorities to prosecute party functionaries for receiving foreign donation, the home ministry had informed a division bench that a deadline of May 24 has been set for the party to give explanation regarding the source of the donations.
