Haryana has exceeded the target for 65 lakh metric tonne of wheat procurement in the ongoing rabi marketing year, with 66.52 lakh metric tonne lifted so far.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said over 66.56 lakh metric tonne of wheat has arrived in various mandis of the state. Out of the total arrival of wheat during the marketing year, 4,084 metric tonne has been procured by traders, he said.
Haryana, which is heading for record wheat procurement this marketing year, had recorded the highest-ever wheat arrival of 69.24 lakh metric tonne in 2009-10. The state procured 63.47 lakh metric tonne of wheat last year.
Giving a break-up of the wheat procured by government agencies, he said over 23.31 lakh metric tonne of wheat was purchased by HAFED, over 17.48 lakh metric tonne by the Food and Supplies Department, 8.15 lakh metric tonne by Food Corporation of India, 6.66 lakh metric tonne by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, 6.01 lakh metric tonne by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 4.87 lakh metric tonne by CONFED.
