Haryana keeps aside Rs 3.9 cr for energy conservation

The Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 3.90 crore during the current financial year to promote renewable energy and energy conserving devices under the Integrated Rural Energy Programme(IREP) in the state by involving panchayats.
 
This was disclosed by the Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan, here today. He said the Integrated Rural Energy Programme was being implemented vigorously in the state to encourage people residing in the rural areas to adopt renewable energy technologies to meet their daily requirement of cooking, heating, lighting and irrigation.
 
"As many as 38 clusters in 188 villages have been identified in the state, with each district having two clusters," said Mohan .
 
He added that to encourage non-conventional and renewable resources of energy in the state ,as many as 149 hamlets of Morni Block of Panchkula district had been identified and the government had chalked out an ambitious plan of Rs 1.65 crore.
 
The plan had been submitted to the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources for approval.
 
Under the programme, a sum of Rs 3.92 crore had been incurred during the last year by providing solar lanterns to 1,900 families, solar photo voltaic (SPV) home lighting systems to 1,236 families, 20,267 holder-mounted compact flourescent lamps and dish solar cookers to 300 families.
 
283 families had been provided with box-type solar cookers to meet lighting and cooking energy needs.
 
With a view to conserve energy in the agriculture sector, 520 families of selected villages were also provided with energy efficient ISI-mark electric motors of SPV home lighting systems. 110 street lights at a cost of Rs 89.92 lakh had also been installed.
