I-T Dept, FIPB web interfaces to be revamped

BS Reporter New Delhi
The Income Tax (I-T) Department and the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) are gearing up to ensure service delivery through their websites is quick and user-friendly. While the I-T department is redeveloping its national website, FIPB is revamping its online application mode for prospective investors.

The I-T department is in the process of hiring a webmaster for developing, managing and maintaining the new website for the Directorate of Income Tax. It has invited bids for the design, development, content management and maintenance of the website by April 23.

In its project details, the department said, "The new comprehensive national website of the Income Tax Department (www.incometaxindia.gov.in) is expected to be the primary vehicle for delivery of services to taxpayers. It is expected to serve as a knowledge portal and act as the common gateway to field offices, directorates and other websites." The new website would have two sections---an interface with the public and a limited access secured knowledge management section exclusively for I-T officers.

The FIPB, in the investment division of the Department of Economic Affairs, is planning to revamp the online application format for proposals. For this, information technology firms and individuals have been asked to submit expressions of interests and state their credentials and experience to the finance ministry on March 19. The Department of Economic Affairs is slated to decide on the procedure for the revamp exercise after the meeting.
