IIT-K to help Malaysia in setting up electronic hub

Adding another feather to its cap, the prestigious IIT-Kanpur is all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian government to provide technical and academic assistance in setting up an electronic hub in that country.

Registrar of IIT-K, Sanjeev Kashalkar said the institute would sign an MoU with Malaysia on Saturday for cooperation in the field of research and technology in electronics.

"The Malaysian government has approached us for technical assistance in setting up an electronics hub in Penang region of the south east Asian country," Kashalkar said here.

He said the agreement will also facilitate exchange of teachers and students between the two countries.

 

To promote cooperation with overseas institutions, IIT-K, which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year, is organising a workshop tomorrow.

Christened as 'Prospectives of International collaboration for IIT Kanpur,' the workshop will be attended by delegations of scientists and technocrats from Brazil, Malaysia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Israel, Kashalkar said.

The institution, which has successfully collaborated with institutions in several countries including the US, is looking for more international opportunities, he added.
