India, Spain need to enhance agricultural trade

"There is a need to significantly increase the trade in agriculture products...It is because 98 per cent of trade between India and Spain comprises of only industrial products," Spanish Consul General in Mumbai, Ceasar Alba, said at a function here today.
The trade is mainly in machine tools, chemicals and electrical equipment but there is not much in agriculture products, he said.
Last year, Spain exported goods worth Euro 742-million to India while its imports stood at Euro 2,187-million.
India has a good market for its textiles, apparel and chemical products in Spain.

Spanish Foreign Direct Investment in India in 2007 stood at Euro 16.6-million, according to data from the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain.
