Justice Vikramjit Sen sworn in as HC judge

Justice Vikramajit Sen was on Monday sworn in as the senior most High Court judge of Karnataka on Monday. Outgoing Chief Justice Jagjit Singh Khehar administered the oath to Justice Sen.

Born on December 31, 1950, Justice Sen has practised in all courts in Delhi.

He has handled civil, arbitration and commercial disputes and has a special interest in minority rights. He was appointed additional judge of the Delhi High Court on July 7, 1999 and became a permanent judge on October 30, 2000.

Later Justice Khehar, who was appointed as a Supreme Court Judge after an apex court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia, cleared his name for elevation last month, was given a warm send off by Bar Council Chariman Anand Kumar Appu Mugdam. Khehar became the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court in August 2010.

 

Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court were elevated to the apex court, according to separate notifications issued by the Law Ministry. Their warrants of appointments were signed by President Pratibha Patil on Saturday.

Along with Justice Khehar, the other judges to be elevated to the Supreme Court were Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court and Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, Judge, Bombay High Court.
