More power for MP farmers

More than 2 lakh farmers will be allowed to use 5 Horsepower connections for thresher operations.

At present, farmers need to apply for a new power connection to run a thresher.

Overhauling a decision of the previous Congress government, the Shivraj Singh government today announced in state assembly that the farmers will be allowed to use their existing 5 Horsepower connections for use of threshers. They need not apply for new connections.

Stating this in the assembly, he said his government would allow the farmers to use their connections for a necessary farm implement like thresher provided it is used for individual farm.

To which the members of opposition raised an objection. "This facility already exists, the chief minister and his government is unnecessarily taking advantage of it," said Jamuna Devi, leader of Opposition in the assembly.
