Odisha to finalise data policy in 4 months

The policy aims at avoiding redundancy, allowing openness, inter-operability and improving the quality and utilisation of government owned data base

BS Reporter Bhubaneswar
The state government expects to finalise its data policy in 3-4 months to facilitate access to government owned data for all stakeholders.

The policy is aimed at avoiding redundancy, allowing openness, inter-operability and improving the quality and utilisation of government owned data base. The objective is to facilitate accessibility of data base to all the stake holders, projection of data on a common electronic platform and sharing of authentic data for the purposes of supporting inclusive growth and good governance.

The draft data policy prepared by Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC) was deliberated at a meeting held last Saturday chaired by chief secretary G C Pati. The chief secretary has stressed on in-built provisions for 'crowd sourcing' in the state data base and its linkage to citizen service centres.

The integration and synchronisation of a huge volume of data generated by different stakeholders is essential for inclusive growth and good governance.

The draft data policy would be customised and finalised after receipt of inputs from various stakeholders.
