If Mamata Banerjee is taking her protest against Centre's reforms to Delhi with a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, in a counter Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has directed West Bengal Bengal Congress to launch a state-wide campaign to sell advantages of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed on the message in a meeting with West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) president Pradip Bhattacharya last night.
“Prime Minister has asked to launch a state-wide campaign to make people aware of the advantages of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail. The state committee will be meeting on Tuesday to chalk out how to carry on the order,” Bhattacharya said.
According to him, Prime Minister has also allayed West Bengal's concerns about future of the railway projects in the state.
Incidentally, another state Congress leader, Manas Bhuinya will be meeting Road and Transport minister CP Joshi who was given additional charge of the Railways. Bhuinya is likely to discuss the railway projects in the state.
