Russian, Taiwanese firms bag ORR project in Hyd

Corporation Transstroy of Russia and Continental Engineering Corporation of Taiwan have bagged the 24-km first phase Outer Ring Road (ORR) project consisting of two packages from the Andhra Pradesh government.
 
The state government's high-power committee led by chief secretary T K Dewan finalised the tenders here today.
 
While the Russian company was the lowest bidder for the first package quoting Rs 219 crore at less than 19 per cent of the estimated cost, the Taiwanese company bagged the second package by quoting Rs 251 crore, which is 7.8 per cent lower than the benchmark cost, according to officials.
 
About 10 companies bid for the project contract. The first phase of the eight-lane road project will connect Gachibowli, the IT hub, with the new international airport coming up at Shamshabad.
 
The construction of the 24-km stretch of ORR is scheduled to be completed by December 2007.
