Shivraj Chauhan to address World Bank

The World Bank has invited Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to make an address at its headquarters in Washington. Chauhan, who will be on a tour of the US from September 30 to October 7, will also address the Ross School of Business in Michigan.
This is the second time that the World Bank has invited Chauhan to make an address. Earlier this year, Chauhan had addressed a World Bank meet in China.
“The World Bank would be delighted to host a talk by you on women’s social empowerment and improvement of access to services and livelihoods in Madhya Pradesh,” a letter from the World Bank to the minister, a copy of which is available with Business Standard, reads.
Chauhan will make his address on October 1 and will hold a meeting with the US India Business Council on October 2.
“He will also visit Detroit and Chicago to meet non-resident Indians and potential investors,” a senior official in the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Apart from this, at the University of Michigan’s India Business Conference 2012, Chauhan will deliver a lecture, ‘Inside the Transformation’. The conference will explore global opportunities and challenges associated with transformation taking place in India.
Chauhan has launched various social initiatives to empower women, including the Ladli Laxmi Yojana for the girl child. His work on the Lok Sewa Guarantee Act, which mandates government machinery to deliver within a stipulated time-frame, has received wide recognition.
