The State High Level Clearance Committee, headed by Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, today cleared 24 new industrial projects amounting to an investment of Rs 10,958 crore with an employment opportunity for 60,138 persons in the state. With this, the total investment projects cleared by the present BJP government in Karnataka has touched Rs 110,000 crore.
Auto components major Bosch Ltd, Larsen & Toubro, Praxair India, J K Tyre & Industries, Maharashtra Seamless, Jindal Saw, Sree Renuka Sugars are among the companies that have shown interest to invest in the state.
Among the new projects, four are in the iron and steel sector with a combined investment of Rs 3,999.47 crore, three power projects with Rs 2,564.50 crore, one IT/ITeS park with Rs 560 crore, one IT SEZ project with Rs 615 crore.
In the automobile sector, the government cleared one project with an investment of Rs 300 crore and four hotel-cum-tourism projects involving an investment of Rs 1,242 crore.
The high level committee also cleared two new sugar mills for the state involving an investment of Rs 278.26 crore and one brewery unit with
Rs 250 crore, apart from four projects with Rs 421.45 crore in the food processing sector.
In the engineering sector one project with Rs 130 crore investment was cleared. Among other categories, the state cleared two projects involving Rs 696.48 crore.
