State to set up 5-star hotel in Hyderabad

| To bridge the demand-supply gap for star hotel rooms in Hyderabad, which is 2,000 additional rooms per day for 2006-07, the state government has decided to set up a five-star hotel at Madhapur on the outskirts of the city, said state minister for tourism and sugar J Geeta Reddy. |
| Briefing mediapersons after releasing the tourism policy, the minister said that the project was awarded to a consortium of private infrastructure developers "� My Home Construction Private Limited, VBC Private Limited and Eastern India Hotels Limited. |
| "The five-star hotel will have more than 250 rooms, 100 service apartments and other required facilities. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 214 crore, and the investments are expected to go up to Rs 500 crore," the minister said. |
| Besides, an international-standard health spa and hotel and a multi-theme park abutting the beach road from Visakhapatnam to Bheemili, each involving an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore, are in the pipeline, according to the minister. |
| "The government is also proposing to develop an eco-friendly spa with an organic food restaurant near Durgam Cheruvu, and a drive-in theatre-cum-parking facility with ethnic food courts opposite Shilparamam. While the feasibility study is being done for the former, a study is yet to be taken up for the latter," she said. |
