Take charge of higher education: Shiv Nadar to govt
He was speaking in his special address at the FICCI Higher Education summit

Is the Indian education system supporting what the industry requires? Is it ready to embrace the changes that are coming in? Shiv Nadar, founder HCL Technologies and Shiv Nadar University sought answers to these questions in his special address at the FICCI Higher Education summit held in New Delhi.
Highlighting the changes which Indian Higher education segment is in dire need of, Nadar, said, "It is an earnest appeal (to the government), please take charge."
Nadar added that the government considers the IT industry a golden goose and taxes it heavily. But it does not realize the IT industry has to put in place a massive training system to train these students to make them job ready.
He said that despite the fact that there are over 3,400 engineering colleges in the country and the graduates spend around four years on campus seeking a degree, they are not market ready and that the IT industry needs to train them for around nine months to a year.
