Time-bound plan to implement Centre-sponsored schemes

Our Bureau Chennai/ Bangalore
Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday announced time-bound plans to implement the Centre-sponsored welfare schemes and development programmes.

The move comes in the wake of reports that the government has failed to utilise funds sanctioned by the Centre for various schemes.

The CM held a meeting with the secretaries of all the departments for a review of the development works.

"It has come to my notice that the implementation of many Centre-sponsored programmes is being delayed for various reasons. This has resulted in non-utilisation of funds sanctioned by the Centre for specific projects. This unhealthy trend should end immediately. All departments have to come up with time-bound plans within a month to implement the Centre-sponsored programmes," he said.

The state government has reportedly not utilised the Central funds meant for housing for families below the poverty line."At least 25,000 houses have to be constructed every month to meet the target. But this is not happening leading to fund lapse," he said.
