Uttar Pradesh is optimistic about Ghaziabad as an ever-growing industrial and employment-generating hub.

“With comparative lower costs of living and proximity to the national capital, Ghaziabad is going to be the highest revenue- and employment-generating industrial district,” Anil Kumar Gupta, UP infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, said here.

Meanwhile, Feedback Infrastructure & Services was on Wednesday selected as consultant for the development of the green-field access-controlled Northern Peripheral Road in Ghaziabad.

The project is estimated at Rs 440 crore and would be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is the nodal agency for the project.

The 20km long, four-lane project is aimed at providing better connectivity to industries and transportation of raw material/produce, besides decongesting roads from highway traffic within Ghaziabad city.

The consultant is mandated to expedite the project study, technical feasibility study, financial viability study, and the entire bid process management, conforming to PPP guidelines and regulations.

The selection was made by the Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) meeting chaired by Gupta. Bids were invited from empanelled category I consultants of the Union ministry of road transport and highways.

Five bids were received from RITES Ltd, Gurgaon; Feedback Infrastructure & Services, New Delhi; Holtech Consulting, Gurgaon; Casta Engineers & Consultants, New Delhi; and Uniborn India, Gurgaon.

The Northern Peripheral Road will start from SH-57 (Sharanpur Road) in the Loni Area and terminate at Dasna on NH-24 (Lucknow Road) bisecting NH-58 (Meerut Road).

The scope of work for consultants comprises exploring the road’s alignment, assessment of requirement for bridges, railway over-bridges, feasibility, clearances from the Union environment ministry, and management of the entire bidding process for the selection of developers. The concessionaire for the project would be selected within 34 weeks.
