YSR laughs off ministers' resignation

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today sought to play down the resignation by two of his ministers, terming it as irrelevant and said there were no issues with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) when it continued to be part of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

The chief minister on Wednesday indicated that the resignation letters given to him by two of his cabinet colleagues in response to a verbal challenge with TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao would not be taken seriously.

"Some leaders of TRS and our party had merely traded words and there is nothing new in it," Reddy said and stated that the resignation issue was totally irrelevant in the given context.

Following KCR's announcement of his resignation from the membership of the Lok Sabha yesterday morning, two ministers, M Satyanarayana Rao and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, who dared the former to quit and seek reelection, had also sent their resignation letters to the chief minister the same day evening.

The chief minister's statement comes in the wake of AICC incharge of Andhra affairs, Digvijay Singh's, appeal to KCR to reconsider his decision.
