BCI 2017-18: All India Bar Examination Details

Applications forms were released on 01st September 2017 and the last date to apply for AIBE (XI) is 31st October 2017.

AIBE (All India Bar Examination) is a national level examination conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI). AIBE is held twice every year in the month of March and December to assess and provide ‘Certificate of Practice’ to law graduate so that they can practise at any court in India. Thus AIBE (All India Bar Examination) is basically a qualifying/screening examination. The application forms for AIBE (XI) are now available both online and offline. Applications forms were released on 01st September 2017 and the last date to apply for AIBE (XI) is 31st October 2017. The examination will be conducted in 40 cities across India in 11 languages namely Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

About AIBE
AIBE is conducted in offline mode (paper-pen mode). The examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of 100 marks and time duration for AIBE is 3 hours 30 minutes, also there is no negative marking. AIBE will cover following subjects Constitutional Law, I.P.C (Indian Penal Code), Cr. P.C (Criminal Procedure Code), C.P.C (Code of Civil procedure), Evidence Act, Alternative Dispute Redressal including Arbitration Act, Family Law, Public Interest Litigation, Administrative Law, Professional Ethics & Cases of Professional Misconduct under BCI rules, Company Law, Environmental Law, Cyber law, Labour + Industrial Law, Law of Tort, including Motor Vehicle Accidents and Consumer Protection Law, Law Related to Taxation, Law of Contract, Specific Relief, Prop Laws, Spl Contract N.I Ac, Land Acquisition Act and Intellectual Property Laws. These subject and AIBE are divided into 2 categories namely Category I and II. Each subject of category I will have 7 questions, while there will be 23 questions in total from Category-II (consisting of at least 5 subjects).

Eligibility Parameters
  • Candidates should have completed a 3 years or 5 years LL.B. degree from a BCI recognized institution
  • Candidates should be enrolled with respective State Bar Council and should hold a relevant advocate enrolment card issued by State Bar Council
  • Candidate should be an Indian citizen
  • There is no age limit or minimum marks criteria, also there is no limit on the number of attempt a candidate can appear for AIBE
How To Apply: Step by Step AIBE Registration Process
For AIBE (XI) candidates can apply both online as well as offline
Candidates who wish to apply online can do so by visiting the official website of AIBE - allindiabarexamination.com
Candidates who wish to apply offline can procure the AIBE XI application form from their respective State Bar Councils
Candidates need to first register on the website using a valid email ID and mobile number
Candidate will then login and fill out the registration form by providing all details such as education and personal detail, choice of centre and more. Candidates also need to upload the following documents
  1. Advocate ID card
  2. Enrolment Certificate
  3. Scanned photo and signature
  4. Category Certificate (if applicable)
  5. Disability Certificate (if applicable)
Next Candidates will pay the examination fee through SBI challan 24 hours after filling the application form. After paying the examination fee candidates will again login using their registration number and password and upload Challan details.
Candidates are advised to take a print-out of the application form for future references
