Ruling AIADMK is leading in five seats and its rival DMK in two, according to early trends in the counting of votes in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
AIADMK was leading in Mayiladuthurai, Poompuhar, Sankari, Udhagamandalam and Athur, Election Commission said quoting early trends.
At Thuraiyur, DMK was initially trailing but forged ahead. It was also leading in Thiruvaiyaru.
The counting of votes polled in 232 Assembly constituencies in the state of Tamil Nadu got underway earlier with the opening of postal ballots.
