Gic Headless As Sengupta Retires, Centre Snoozes

The decision to appoint the next top honcho to head General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) hangs in abeyance, as appointments by the ministry comes to a standstill in the wake of the political rumblings at the Centre.D Sengupta was the chairman of the corporation till he retired on June 30.

The insurance grapevine is that P C Ghosh, the incumbent managing director of the designated national reinsurer, is likely to step into Sengupta
