| S C Gupta today took over as chairman of Punjab National Bank (PNB) and K N Prithviraj assumed office as CMD of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC). Gupta, who was earlier chairman of the Chennai-based Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), took over after PNB chairman S S Kohli retired on Saturday. 58-year old Gupta started his career with the SBI in 1966, and moved on to Syndicate Bank. He then joined OBC where he became executive director in 1999. He was appointed chairman of IOB in December 1999. Prithviraj, who was earlier executive director of Kolkata-based United Bank of India, took over at OBC after chairman B D Narang also retired on Saturday. Both Gupta and Prithviraj will hold office for the next two years, sources said. |
