Public sector insurer Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has set a target to reach out to all uninsured and insurable people by 2020. "So far, LIC has reached out to around 30 per cent people. Now, the corporation has set a target to reach out to the balance insurable and uninsured persons to achieve 100 per cent insurance in the next seven years", said senior divisional manager of LIC's Berhampur division Ramesh Chandra Khora.

In the Berhampur division that covers all districts of south Odisha, the insurance penetration by LIC is also almost the same as the pan-India figure, Khora said.

"LIC will launch a massive campaign in the rural areas on a mission mode to reach out to the targeted groups and to cover them under various schemes of the corporation", he added.

He said, LIC has also launched national electronic fund transfer (NEFT) scheme wherein transactions of all claims and mature money transfer can be done electronically.
