The rupee closed at a four-month closing high of 45.6300/6400 per dollar on strong dollar inflows from foreign institutional investors.

Premiums on forward dollars ended higher. Annualised premium on the benchmark six-month dollar ended 2.86 percent.

Prices government securities slid to two-year low on Wednesday as wary traders sold off stocks after the RBI governor indicated inflationary hopes would determine interest rate course.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year paper ended higher at 6.8607 per cent compared with 6.8182 per cent on Tuesday.

Call money rates ended unchanged at 4.50-4.70 per cent.
