SBI arm gets new MD

Atul Chandra Varma yesterday assumed charge as the managing director of State Bank of Patiala, at the Bank's Head Office in Patiala.

Prior to joining State Bank of Patiala, Varma was chief general manager (Personnel & HRD), at Corporate Centre, SBI, Mumbai.

Joining SBI as a probationary officer in February 1972, Varma worked as general manager (Industrial Relations) and general manager (Personnel and HRD) at SBI's Corporate Centre in Mumbai.

He has also held important assignments abroad, in Toronto (Canada) and Bhutan.
