Amway Corporation – the US-based consumer goods company - has registered its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the largest collage with 75,200 cut-out handprints. According to the record authority, the collage was the culmination of a global initiative that collected over 260,000 handprints in total.
It’s the fourth world record that the multi-level-marketing company has managed to break.
Amway achieved the feat through its ‘Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign’ – a promotional drive to expand the distribution of its infant nutrition supplement product catering to children below five years of age. It aims to increase the market for Nutrilite Little Bits to 15 countries by 2016 from nine presently.
Steve Van Andel, chairman Amway, said, “we are so grateful for the response from people all over the world. Malnutrition is preventable, and these ‘Raise Your Hand’ events are helping us bring greater awareness and attention to this important issue. Our hope is that more people will become involved in lessening the impact malnutrition has in the lives of so many children and families.”
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 2.84 million children, under the age of five, died in 2013 or some 7,770 every day due to nutrition related issues.
The campaign and “effort to directly engage over 260,000 people worldwide to join us in fighting childhood malnutrition highlights what is possible when we issue a call to action,” said Jeff Terry, global manager of corporate social responsibility for Amway.
