Aban Offshore: Rises on acquiring contract

Aban Offshore surged by 3.19 per cent to close at Rs 2285.69 a share after the company’s step-down overseas unit Venture Drilling AS won an 18-month contract from Maersk Oil Angola at an operating day rate of 495,000 million on September 1.

Shares soared to a high of Rs 2324 a share and a low of Rs 2158 a share. A total of 14.36 lakh shares changed hands at the Bombay Stock Exchange in a weak Mumbai market.
