Almond sheds Rs 100 on reduced offtake

Adequate supply in markets also keeps pricse down

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Almond prices declined by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today owing to reduced offtake by retailers and stockists.

Adequate stock position on the back of increased arrivals from overseas markets also weighed on the prices.

Almond (California) prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 11,300 per 40 kg and its kernel slipped by Rs 5 to Rs 390-400 per kg.

Traders attributed this fall in almond prices to reduced offtake against increased arrivals from overseas markets.

Meanwhile, prices of other dry fruits ruled steady on scattered deals.

The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):

Almond (California) Rs 11,300 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 6,000-6,200; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 3,000-3,200; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-20,000.

Almond Kernel (California) Rs 390-400 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 300-370 per kg.
