Arhar spurts on hectic demand, tight supply

Barring a sharp rise in arhar and its dal, prices generally held steady in the national capital today in restricted deals.

Market analysts said tight supply following less arrivals from producing regions amid hectic demand mainly pushed up wholesale arhar and its dal prices.

In the national capital, arhar and its dal prices surged by Rs 500 each to Rs 3,850-3,950 and Rs 5,000-5400 per quintal, respectively. 

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:  

Urad 4,150-4,700, Urad chilka (local) 4,950-5,350, best 5,400-5,700, Dhoya 5,600-5,700, Moong 4,050-4,450, Dal moong chilka local 4,950-5,350, Moong Dhoya local 5,200-5,400 and best quality 5,700-5,900

Masoor small 3,450-3,650, bold 3,600-3,850, Dal Masoor local 4,200-4,300, best quality 4,450-4,750, Malka local 4,000-4,050, best 4,150-4,250, Moth 3,100-3,400, Arhar 3,850-3,950, dal arhar dara 5,000-5,400

Gram 2,525-2,550, gram dal (local) 2,825-2,840, best quality 2,925-3,025, besan (35 kg) Shakti bhog 1,190, Rajdhani 1,190, Rajmah chitra Pune 3,300-3,900, China 3,400-3,900, red 3,400-3,500
