Asian markets weak; Nikkei drops 406pts

Asian markets are significantly weak today following a sharp drop in the US indices on Friday.

The Hang Seng has plunged 813 points to 23,855. The Nikkei dropped 406 points at 12,918.

The Taiwan Weighted index is down 17 points at 8,893. The Straits Times index has shed 89 points at 3,038, and the Seoul Composite index has declined 33 points to 1,747.

The Shanghai Composite index has slumped 184 points (5.3%) to 3,309.
