Balrampur Chini surges on fall in sugar output

Shares of Balrampur Chini Mills rose 7.38 per cent to close the day at Rs 69.80 on reports of a decline in sugar production this year. As per the Indian Sugar Mills Association, the estimated forecast output is at 14.7 million tonnes in the year to September 30 (a fall of 44 per cent) compared to 26.5 million tonnes last year.
The stock opened at Rs 65.60 today and made an intraday high of Rs 69.80. The counter witnessed trading volumes of 890,000 shares. The scrip made a 52-week high of Rs 109.9 (April 30, 2008) and a low of Rs 29.7 (December 02, 2008).
