Chana moves up in futures trade on spot demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Chana prices rose by Rs 30 to Rs 3,133 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a rise in spot demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January rose by Rs 30, or 0.97%, to Rs 3,133 per quintal, with an open interest of 16,710 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in February gained Rs 23, or 0.72%, to Rs 3,214 per quintal, with an open interest of 94,760 lots.

Traders said fresh buying by speculators after pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in chana prices in futures trade.
