Crude palm oil prices rose by Rs 5.50 to Rs 537.90 per 10 kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on hopes of a rise in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in April rose by Rs 5.50, or 1.03 per cent, to Rs 537.90 per 10 kg, with a business volume of one lot.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in February gained Rs 5.10, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 535.80 per 10 kg, with an open interest of one lot.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on anticipation of pick up in spot market demand, led to a rise in crude palm oil futures prices.
