The latest assessment is based on the feedback received from the states and validated with the information received from other sources, a government release said.  The 6.16 per cent growth in farm output is likely to be followed by a corresponding revision in the agricultural Gross Domestic Product GDP), which was estimated at 4.5 per cent for 2007-08. This might also have a marginal bearing on the country's overall GDP.  On the MSP for various crops for the ongoing kharif-sowing season, Mishra said the issue is under consideration of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC).  "The EAC is expected to give its recommendation soon, based on which the government will announce the MSP", he said.  On June 12, the union Cabinet had announced an adhoc MSP of common variety paddy at Rs 850 a quintal. This was against the recommendation of Rs 1,000 given by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP). The EAC is also expected to take a call on the final MSP of paddy.  The prospect of various crops in the ongoing kharif season is good since monsoon has set in early. "By and large sowing is better than last year...seeing the trend of sowing, prospect seems to be good.", he said.
