Lead gains 0.36% on firm global cues

Higher offtake from battery-makers at home fuels uptrend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead futures rose 0.36 per cent to Rs 124.50 per kg today amid increased demand from battery-makers in the spot markets.

Besides, the metal's strength at the London Metal Exchange (LME), also pushed the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June traded 45 paise, or 0.36 per cent, higher at Rs 124.50 per kg, with a turnover of 448 lots.

July lead was up 40 paise, or 0.32 per cent, to Rs 125.70 per kg in a business volume of four lots.

Marketmen said apart from increased demand from battery-makers at spot markets, strength in base metals at the London Metal Exchange, mainly influenced lead prices at futures trade.
