Markets down; ITC, Hindustan Unilever move up

The Sensex is now down 185 points at 15,319.

The Bankex has dropped 2.2% to 7,531, and the IT index has shed 1.6% at 3,818. The FMCG index, however, has gained 1.3% at 2,237.

The NSE Nifty is down 41 points at 4,579.

Maruti has plunged 4.5% to Rs 683. Infosys and HDFC have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 1,610 and Rs 2,480, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Sterlite have plunged 3% each to Rs 748 and Rs 605, respectively.

Tata Power and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 2.5% each to Rs 1,050 and Rs 192, respectively.

SBI, Tata Motors and HDFC Bank have declined nearly 2% each to Rs 1,563, Rs 439 and Rs 1,285, respectively.

 

ITC has gained 2.4% at Rs 198. Satyam and Hindustan Unilever have advanced over 1% each to Rs 415 and R 244, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,316 stocks traded so far, 1,293 have declined and 942 have advanced.
